Release 7.0 Notes
We’re excited to introduce PM3 Release 7.0, a major step forward for configurability and intelligence. This release delivers two game-changing innovations, Configurable Logs & PM3 Genie. Alongside these headline features, we’ve introduced enhancements to finances, resourcing, reporting and system performance all designed to make PM3 smarter, faster and more flexible.
1. New Functionality
Customisable Logs
The new Configurable Logs capability is a powerful enhancement introduced to PM3. It gives you complete freedom to design, name, and structure your own Logs to match the way your organisation works.
With Configurable Logs, you’re no longer limited to the standard PM3 log types like Risks, Dependencies, or Decisions. You can now create new Logs for any governance or tracking need, for example:
-
Change Logs to record project or programme change requests and approvals.
-
Purchase Order (PO) Logs to track financial commitments and vendor spend.
-
Audit or Compliance Logs to meet internal and external reporting requirements.
Creating a new Log type is simple. From Admin > Log Definitions, you can:
-
Give your Log a custom name that fits your organisation’s language.
-
Add and reorder custom fields and columns to capture exactly the data you need — from text, dates, dropdowns, and owners, to RAG ratings and references.
-
Control access and visibility by UI Group and licence type, ensuring each team only sees what’s relevant to them.
Once created, your custom Logs appear under the unified Logs tab within each Plan, Programme, or BCP, just like the standard RAIDD logs. They can be added, updated, reported on, and even exported through Datamart using the new GetAllLogs function, giving you instant visibility across your entire portfolio.
See here for more information on setting logs up.
PM3Genie AI
We’re proud to introduce the next evolution of PM3 Genie, now an AI-powered co-pilot designed to make PM3 smarter, more intuitive and more helpful than ever before.
Built on Microsoft Co-Pilot technology and seamlessly integrated into PM3, Genie can now understand natural language queries and provide instant, intelligent answers using the PM3 Knowledge Hub as the source of truth. Whether you need help navigating a feature, finding a report, or learning how to configure something, Genie is there to guide you every step of the way.
What PM3 Genie Can Do Today
-
Instant guidance and support: Ask Genie how to do something in PM3, it will explain or take you directly to the right place.
-
Smart search: Instead of scrolling through help pages, simply ask Genie a question and it will summarise key information for you.
-
Onboarding made easy: New users can get up to speed faster with Genie acting as an always-available mentor inside PM3.
Benefit: Teams spend less time searching for information and more time focusing on delivery, with answers and help available on demand.
Just the Beginning
PM3 Genie’s new AI co-pilot marks the start of an exciting journey to bring intelligent automation and insight across the platform.
Future releases will expand Genie’s capabilities to include:
-
Proactive suggestions – helping users spot risks, overdue actions, or data inconsistencies before they become issues.
-
AI-driven insights – surfacing trends and anomalies across projects, programmes, and portfolios.
-
Natural-language reporting – allowing users to ask Genie to “summarise this programme’s financial performance” or “show me overdue risks”.
-
Smart configuration help – guiding administrators through setup and best practice automatically.
See here for more information on using Genie AI.
Programme and BCP-Level Finances
Managing finances across complex portfolios is now simpler and more transparent with the introduction of Programme-Level and BCP-Level Finances in PM3.
Previously, financial data could only be entered at the Project level, which then rolled up automatically to Programmes and BCPs. While this provided visibility of totals, it meant that Programme Managers couldn’t directly record or adjust financial figures specific to their level of governance.
With Release 7.0, that changes. You can now enter, manage, and report on financial data directly at the Programme and BCP levels, giving you the flexibility to reflect costs, budgets, and funding that apply across multiple projects without needing to modify each one.
See here for more information on Programme/BCP finances.
All print and exported reports at both Programme and BCP levels have been updated to reflect this new structure. The improved layout clearly distinguishes between local and rolled-up totals, helping stakeholders see where budgets are being spent and how overall financial positions are derived.
Resourcing Capacity – New ‘By Plan’ View
We’ve introduced a new ‘By Plan’ view on the Resourcing > Resource Capacity screen, giving you a clearer picture of where your resources are being used across projects and programmes.
This view groups resource demand by Plan, helping managers quickly understand how effort and capacity are distributed across the portfolio. It’s ideal for identifying which projects are heavily loaded, where resources are stretched, and how demand shifts over time.
Only Plans with active demand in the selected time window are displayed, keeping the view focused and uncluttered. If a resource appears in multiple Plans, they’ll be shown under each providing a complete, transparent picture of their commitments.
The view is read-only to maintain data integrity, ensuring that capacity adjustments are made centrally through the By Role view.
See here for more information on Resource Capacity views.
