This subtab is accessed by selecting a Person from the Persons List, and clicking the Resource Group subtab.
On this page you can specify the Resource Groups a person can belong to between which dates. To add a new record click the ‘Add new timeslot for resource group’ button in the tool ribbon.
Normally, individuals work on one project at a time and have a specific rate for the project, regardless of their grade or service. In this case, there is no need to manage Resource Groups at all. However, for more corporate environments, it may be useful to group people, say by grade, and to charge all people in the same grade out at the same rate (by default). This makes management simpler when dealing with large number of people.
A Person may change Resource Groups over time, so this page records the history of Resource Group membership using Start Date and End Date. PM3time applies the same rules to maintain a complete contiguous history for each Person so there is never a time that a Person is not in some Resource Group. By default, each Resource Group when added, it will use a single timeslot ranging for a timespan of one year.
Note that the time slots for a Person’s membership of a Resource Group are quite separate from the timeslots used by the Resource Group on the Ratecard. For example, a person can be in one grade from July 2023 to June 2024 and change in July 2024. But rates may be changed in January of each year. These can be set quite independently of one another. The system will handle the different timeslots appropriately.
