Plan Access Levels

There is a basic discrimination between System Access Levels and Plan Access Levels. The former controls at a general level whether or not a user can read or update any information in the database; the latter controls whether or not a user can read or update a specific Plan. The default user access to Plans is No Access.

A user of PM3 is either unlicensed or has a Creator license or a Viewer license. Licensed users are added to the system by PM3 Administrators. Unlicensed users are added to the system by PM3 Administrators or by Creators (in the Team Page of Plans to which they have update access)

Unlicensed users cannot login to PM3 but can be referred to as participants in Plans.

Viewers potentially have at most Read Only access to any Plan. The Owners of Plans (or, in exceptional circumstances, PM3 Administrators) can give Viewers at most Read Only access to their Plans using Add Plan Access Permissions.

Creators potentially have CRUD (Create, Read, Update and Delete) access to any Plan. They automatically have CRUD access to their own Plans. The Owners of Plans (or, in exceptional circumstances, PM3 Administrators) can give Creators Read Only access to their Plans or RU (i.e. Read and Update, but not Delete) access to their Plans using Add Plan Access Permissions. Creating a Plan automatically gives the user (who is not necessarily the Owner) CRUD access to all pages in the Plan (the Owner may later rescind this access)

Therefore at the moment a Viewer is added to the system he or she cannot add any information to the

database and cannot open any Plan; to view a Plan the Viewer must be explicitly given permission for this by the Plan Owner (using the Team Page). At the moment a Creator is added to the system he or she can add information to the database but cannot open any Plan. Once a Viewer or Creator is explicitly given Read Only access to a Plan by the Plan’s Owner he or she can open that Plan (Read Only). Once a Creator is explicitly given RU access to a Plan by the Plan’s Owner he or she can open that Plan for update.
