Gantt Integration with Resources

The Resources page has a new optional column – Gantt – which can appear in each month. This allows you to compare information in the Gantt table with information that has been manually entered into the Resource page or imported from Pm3time. The normal column selector dialog (right mouse on the table header) will show or hide this new column. It will be automatically populated. You don’t need to do anything to set that up. But there are some extra controls to allow you to integrate more closely. On the Resource page, click the new Import Gantt icon to see these controls. Using this control, you can choose to copy data from the Gantt column to any one of the other Allocations columns i.e. Budget/Forecast1,2,3/Actual. In addition, when this copy occurs, you can choose Clear - the Copy will clear all cells in the target Allocation Column before copying Keep – the Copy will only overwrite cells for which Gantt data exists. Other data will remain unchanged. You can also choose Manual – only copy when the Import button is clicked. This can be useful to avoid too many refreshes, which can take a while when there are a lot of resources Auto – copy should happen whenever the page is refreshed or the user returns to the Resources page from changing the Gantt page. Changing the Gantt page – task dates or resources – can affect what is on the Resource page but changing information on the Resource page has no effect on the Gantt page. Importing Gantt affects the whole plan, not just the time-window on display. This is because the Gantt chart does not have a time window. You don’t need to show the Gantt column in order to perform the import. But it can be useful in the early stages of usage, since it allows you to check calculations without affecting critical Resource page data.
